One of the four Baroque Churches of the Philippines UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Church of San Agustin in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, is famous for its massive buttresses and fortress-like design, built to withstand earthquakes and pirate attacks. The church's unique architecture combines European Baroque with local building techniques.
