Miagao Church

Community vote

One of the four Baroque Churches of the Philippines UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva in Miagao, Iloilo, is a fortress-like church built in 1787–97 to withstand pirate incursions. Its riotously decorated façade is flanked by massive tapering bell towers, showcasing a unique reinterpretation of European Baroque by Chinese and Filipino craftsmen.
